No. 8 Lynn drops competitive SSC contest against No. 2 Florida Southern

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The No. 8 Lynn University women's lacrosse team battled throughout against No. 2 Florida Southern at Bobby Campbell Stadium but ultimately fell, 10-6, in Sunshine State Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Fighting Knights move to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in SSC play following a competitive showing against one of the nation's top programs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn struck first as Elizabeth Clagett converted a free-position opportunity to give the Blue and White an early 1-0 lead
- Angelia Huggins added another free-position goal later in the opening quarter as Lynn held a 2-1 advantage midway through the period
- The visitors responded late in the first quarter and carried a 3-2 lead into the second
- Huggins tied the game at 3-3 with 12:02 remaining in the second quarter, recording her second goal of the afternoon
- A pair of goals from Florida Southern created a 5-3 gap heading into halftime
- Out of the break, Olivia Fox scored to cut the deficit to 6-4
- Shortly after, Hannah Exley capitalized on a man-up opportunity off an assist from Rebecca Clark to make it a two-goal game, 7-5, with under six minutes left in the third
- Florida Southern responded with key stretches in both the third and fourth quarters to extend the lead to 10-5
- Fox added a late goal at the 6:58 mark off Clark's second assist of the day, but Lynn was unable to close the gap down the stretch

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Huggins and Fox led Lynn with two goals each
- Huggins recorded her 20th goal of the season, ranking third on the team
- Clagett notched her 21st goal of the 2026 campaign
- Clark recorded two assists to bring her season total to 10 while adding six ground balls; she now leads the team with 33 ground balls
- Lynn held a slight edge in ground balls, 23-21, showing strong effort in possession battles
- Ava Ceglia made eight saves in goal to anchor the defensive effort
