Roland named All-SSC Second Team and All-Defensive Team

ORLANDO, Fla. - Lynn University sophomore forward John Roland earned postseason recognition from the Sunshine State Conference on Wednesday afternoon, being named to the 2025-26 All-SSC Second Team and the All-SSC Defensive Team following a standout campaign for the Fighting Knights.

John "JT" Roland put together one of the most complete seasons in the conference, emerging as one of the SSC's premier rebounders and interior defenders while also serving as a consistent scoring threat for the Blue and White. The Coral Springs native averaged 13.9 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, shooting an efficient 59.3 percent from the field across 28 games.

A dominant presence on the glass all season, Roland ranked second in the Sunshine State Conference in rebounding (9.0 rpg) and led the league with 4.46 offensive rebounds per game, a mark that also ranked third nationally. He finished the regular season with 253 total rebounds, placing him among the top rebounders in NCAA Division II.

Roland also recorded 10 double-doubles during the season, the third-most in the SSC and among the top totals nationally, highlighted by a career-best 26-point, 12-rebound performance against Nova Southeastern on Feb. 11. Earlier in the year, he delivered one of the most dominant rebounding games in program history, grabbing 18 boards to go along with 22 points against Claflin on Dec. 19.

His efficiency was another hallmark of the sophomore's season. Roland ranked 23rd nationally in field goal percentage (.593) while finishing with 150 made field goals, consistently providing Lynn with reliable scoring in the paint and second-chance opportunities.

On the defensive end, Roland anchored the Fighting Knights with his physical presence and versatility, averaging 0.9 blocks and 0.8 steals per game while routinely matching up against the conference's top frontcourt players. His impact on that end of the floor earned him a spot on the five-player All-SSC Defensive Team, recognizing the top defenders across the conference.

Roland was one of six student-athletes named to the All-SSC Second Team, joining Jared Berry (Embry-Riddle), Alvin Tumblin Jr. (Palm Beach Atlantic), Deon Perry (Barry), Jaxon Nap (Nova Southeastern) and Jah Nze (Rollins).
