BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Lynn University baseball team showed signs of life late but could not overcome early defensive miscues as the Fighting Knights dropped a 7-3 decision to Molloy on Saturday morning at the Lynn Baseball Field. Joel Tapia-Melo,
Cole Beck and
Jason Lashley, but the Lions capitalized on early opportunities to maintain control throughout the contest. With the result, the Fighting Knights move to 8-10 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Molloy took advantage of early miscues in the opening inning as a pair of Lynn errors allowed the Lions to plate two unearned runs and grab a 2-0 lead
- The Fighting Knights were retired in order in the first three innings as Molloy's starter kept Lynn's offense quiet early
- Molloy added another unearned run in the third after a double to right center and a Lynn error set up an RBI groundout, extending the lead to 3-0
- Lynn broke through in the fourth when
Bryant Zayas singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly from
Joel Tapia-Melo, trimming the deficit to 3-1
- The Lions answered in the sixth, launching a solo home run to push the advantage to 4-1
- Molloy extended the lead in the seventh with two more runs, capitalizing on another Lynn error and a pair of RBI singles to make it 6-1
- Lynn showed life in the bottom of the seventh when
Cole Beck delivered an RBI single to score
Jason Lashley and cut the margin to 6-2
- The Lions added an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI single to left, stretching the lead to 7-2
- Lynn plated one final run in the eighth as
Justin Lopez scored on a sacrifice fly from Lashley, but Molloy held on over the final frame to secure the 7-3 victory

- Lynn was limited to three hits in the contest, coming from Zayas,
Scout Simpson and Beck
- Beck provided a spark off the bench, going 1-for-2 with an RBI single in the seventh inning
- Lashley drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and also scored once after being hit by a pitch
- Tapia-Melo added an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning and drew two walks
- The Fighting Knights showed patience at the plate, drawing four walks and being hit by four pitches in the game
- Lopez scored a run and swiped a stolen base

Ryan DiMaggio struck out four batters over five innings, allowing three runs (none earned)
- Defensively, Lynn turned three double plays during the game
