Fighting Knights storm back with six-run surge to top PBA in opener

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Trailing by four runs midway through the game, the Lynn baseball team mounted a relentless comeback, scoring six unanswered runs over the final four innings to defeat Palm Beach Atlantic, 6-4, on Friday night. Fueled by patience at the plate, timely hitting, and lockdown pitching from the bullpen, the Fighting Knights turned a quiet start into a statement win to even both their overall and conference records.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knights were held quiet early, going down in order in the first three innings while PBA worked out of multiple clean frames
- Palm Beach Atlantic struck first in the third, capitalizing on aggressive baserunning and a wild pitch to plate two runs and take a 2-0 lead
- The Sailfish extended their lead in the fifth, using a walk, RBI single, and a Lynn throwing error to push the advantage to 4-0
- Lynn responded in the sixth, taking advantage of a defensive miscue to get on the board before Joel Tapia-Melo lifted a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 4-2
- The Fighting Knights completed the comeback in the seventh, as Ivan Herrera delivered an RBI double before Justin Lopez tied the game with a sacrifice fly to even the score at 4-4
- Lynn took its first lead of the night in the eighth, capitalizing on wild pitches and plate discipline, with Cole Beck drawing a walk that forced home the go-ahead run for a 5-4 advantage
- The Blue and White added insurance in the ninth, as Bryant Zayas ripped an RBI triple to extend the lead to 6-4
- On the mound, Zackary Gonzalez locked it down late, highlighted by a double play to end the game and secure the comeback victory
