MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Lynn University softball team showed flashes of offensive firepower but came up short in a Sunshine State Conference doubleheader at Barry, falling 13-5 in five innings in game one before dropping a tightly contested 10-8 decision in game two. The Fighting Knights totaled 14 runs and 18 hits across the two games, highlighted by big performances from
Marina Goins and
Teagan Riley, but were unable to overcome key innings from the Buccaneers.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game #1):
- Both sides went quietly in the opening frame, as Lynn was retired in order and the Fighting Knights defense worked around a walk to keep Barry off the board early
- Lynn struck first in the second, as
Aiyana Hicks singled and stole second before
Marina Goins drove her in with an RBI single; the rally continued with multiple hits, capped by an RBI single from
Kyleigh Hope to make it 2-0
- Barry responded in the bottom half with a two-run home run and continued to apply pressure, adding two more runs on extra-base hits and an infield single to take a 4-2 lead
- Lynn answered in the third, taking advantage of a Barry error and timely hitting as
Quinn McFadden delivered a two-RBI single to even the game at 4-4
- Barry regained control in the bottom of the third, capitalizing on multiple hits, a walk, and a Lynn error to plate four runs and move back in front 8-4
