ORLANDO, Fla. - After completing one of the most dominant individual seasons in NCAA Division II history, Lynn University swimming standout
Maurice Grabowski has been named the Sunshine State Conference Male Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced Thursday.
The prestigious honor caps a historic senior campaign for the Neu-Ulm, Germany native, who established himself as the nation's premier swimmer while helping elevate Lynn men's swimming to unprecedented heights.
Grabowski becomes Lynn University's first SSC Male Athlete of the Year since Toto Gana earned the award in 2019. He also marks the first Fighting Knight student-athlete of either gender to receive the conference's top individual honor since Leolia Jeanjean was recognized that same year.
Grabowski's 2025-26 season will be remembered as one of the greatest ever produced by a Division II swimmer. At the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships, he captured four individual national championships and five total gold medals while leading the Fighting Knights to a fifth-place team finish with 260 points, the highest NCAA Championship finish in program history.
The senior swept the national titles in the 50 freestyle (18.97), 100 butterfly (45.34), 100 backstroke (45.78) and 100 freestyle (41.89), setting Sunshine State Conference records in all four events. He also led off Lynn's NCAA Division II record-setting 200 medley relay championship team that touched the wall in 1:24.15.
Across the national meet, Grabowski earned seven First Team All-America honors and cemented his place among the most accomplished swimmers in NCAA Division II history.
His dominance extended throughout the season, as he was named the SSC Swimmer of the Year and the SSC Championship Swimmer of the Meet for the second consecutive season after another standout performance at the conference championships.
Following the NCAA Championships, the accolades continued to pile up. Grabowski was selected as the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division II Men's Swimmer of the Year, recognizing him as the top swimmer in the nation.
He also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-America First Team honors, becoming a repeat Academic All-American after receiving Third Team recognition a year ago. A major in International Business Management with a 3.71 GPA, Grabowski exemplified excellence both in competition and in the classroom throughout his career.
Just weeks ago, he was also honored as Lynn University's Male Blue and White Athlete of the Year, recognizing the top male student-athlete across all Fighting Knight programs.
With the SSC Male Athlete of the Year award now added to his résumé, Grabowski concludes a career that featured national championships, conference records, All-America honors and national recognition at every level. His accomplishments helped propel Lynn men's swimming to national prominence and leave an enduring legacy as one of the greatest student-athletes in university history.
