BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lynn University women's soccer suffered a 6-2 setback against No.1 Florida Tech on Wednesday evening at Bobby Campbell Stadium. The Fighting Knights trailed 2-0 at halftime before Alex Rigg scored just over a minute into the second half to pull Lynn within one. Brisa Sastre added a goal later in the half, while Juliana Torres recorded an assist as Lynn fell to 4-3-1 on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Florida Tech generated the first scoring opportunity just 28 seconds into the match, but Emma Brunelli made the save to keep the Panthers off the board
- Rigg answered with Lynn's first shot in the fifth minute, putting an attempt on goal that was turned away by the Florida Tech goalkeeper
- Florida Tech broke the scoreless tie at 14:13, finding the top-right corner to take a 1-0 lead
- Elise Holcey responded less than a minute later with a shot on goal, but her attempt was saved
- The Panthers doubled their advantage at 18:55 to take a 2-0 lead
- Brunelli made another save in the 23rd minute before Brooklyn Steiner put Lynn's third shot on goal of the half on frame moments later
- Florida Tech earned the first corner kick of the match in the 29th minute, but the Fighting Knights kept the Panthers from adding to their advantage
- Holcey registered her second shot on goal in the 41st minute, helping Lynn earn its first corner kick moments later
- Brunelli made her fifth save of the half in the 44th minute as the Fighting Knights entered halftime trailing 2-0
- Lynn came out quickly in the second half, as Rigg found the bottom-left corner just 1:03 after the restart off an assist from Torres to cut the deficit to 2-1
- Florida Tech answered in the 52nd minute to regain its two-goal advantage before adding another goal at 55:34 to make it 4-1
- Brooke Auth, who entered in goal to begin the second half, made three saves between the 62nd and 68th minutes to keep Lynn within three
- The Panthers extended their lead to 5-1 with a goal at 72:30
- Miae Canales generated an opportunity for Lynn in the 74th minute before the Fighting Knights earned a corner kick two minutes later
- Sastre put Lynn back on the board at 78:27, finding the bottom center of the net with a right-footed strike to make it 5-2
- Florida Tech responded with its sixth goal at 82:35 to extend its advantage to 6-2
- Lynn earned another corner kick in the 86th minute as the Fighting Knights continued to push late but came up short against the top-ranked Panthers to a final score of 6-2
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Rigg and Sastre each found the back of the net for Lynn
- Rigg scored her fourth goal of the season, while Sastre added her third
- Torres recorded her second assist of the season on Rigg's goal
- Rigg and Holcey led the Fighting Knights with two shots apiece, with both of their attempts landing on goal
- Lynn was efficient offensively, putting eight of its nine shots on goal
- Catarina Fernandes, Sastre, Steiner and Isabella Humbles each added a shot on goal
- Brunelli and Auth split time in goal, combining for seven saves
- The Fighting Knights earned three corner kicks, including two in the second half
- Florida Tech held a 22-9 advantage in total shots and a 14-8 edge in shots on goal
