Men's Basketball Dominates West Alabama

NICEVILLE, Fla.—With four players posting double-digit scoring totals, the Lynn University men's basketball team trounced the West Alabama Tigers 78-57 in their final game of the GSC/SSC Crossover Tournament on Friday.

The Fighting Knights wasted no time to start the game and at the 15:25 mark, Lynn was up 13 at 15-2. Just over 02:00 minutes later, PascalSchuler connected on a three to give the Blue & White a 20-5 advantage.

West Alabama cut the Lynn lead down to single digits at 06:50 left in the first half on an Allen McGaha three pointer to make it a 27-18 game. But after two free throws from Jeremy Lampkin and a layup from Vidal, Lynn pushed its advantage back up to a confortable 13 with just over 05:00 minutes left till halftime.

The Knights finished the first half on a 13-8 run to press their tilt to 19 points at 44-25 on a Garcia three ball with 00:21 second left in the first period.

In the second half, the Knights pressed their 19 point advantage to 24 on a Vidal layup with 09:32 left in the game, then again with 08:18 remaining on another Vidal bucket to make it 68-44.

The Knights tenacity on the boards was a major factor in the victory. For the second half, Lynn out-rebounded West Alabama 20-11. LU also connected on over 50 percent of its shots for the second-straight half.

Overall, Lynn totaled a 51.6 field goal percentage and a 45.5 three point percentage while holding West Alabama to a 2-16 day from downtown. The Blue & White collected 39 rebounds to the Tigers 24 including 18 on the offensive glass.

Off the bench, Lynn registered 19 points. Preya Preboye led the reserves with seven, followed by Jeremy Lampkin with four. Jerrell Oxending and Schuler both added three.

Lynn boasted 33 points off West Alabama's 17 turnovers and 28 second chance points. The Tigers could only post 18 points off Lynn's 12 turnovers and 10 second chance points.
