Greenwood, S.C. – Lynn University's baseball team couldn't come back from an early deficit, falling 11-5 to Lander on Saturday afternoon.  Johnny Broderick smacked his first career home run and Shawn Kale had another quality on the mound with seven strikeouts.  The Fighting Knights drop to 3-2 overall.

Nine runs in the first three innings doomed LU from the start.  An error and several walks put the Blue & White in a hole in the opening frame and the Bearcats (4-3) never looked back.  Lander put two runs up in the first, five in the second and two more in the third before Kale was called from the bullpen.

The junior transfer went 4.1 innings, allowing three hits, one run and seven strikeouts in relief of Kyle Wolfe.  He now has 12 K's in 8.1 innings of work this season.

Lynn finally got on the scoreboard in the fourth when Wes Soto drove home Kyle Radzewski with an RBI single to right field.

A 10-1 game got a little more interesting in the fifth.  Phil Mannelly and Alex Bello opened the frame with singles and pinch hitter Danny Herzog walked t load the bases.  Broderick stepped to the plate and crushed a fastball over the fence in left field, making it a grand slam as his first career home run.

Lynn, though, would not get any closer as another error led to one run for Lander in the eighth and closed the book on the game.
