Tampa, Fla. – Lynn University's baseball team lost its Sunshine State Conference series opener at Tampa 14-0 on Friday night.  The Fighting Knights fall to 13-11 overall and 2-2 in the SSC while the Spartans move to 16-7 overall and 2-2 in league play.

Andrew Virgili (4-3) picked up his third loss on the year, allowing five runs, four earned, in 6.1 innings pitched with three strikeouts.  His counterpart, Josh Thrailkill, held LU to just three hits in six shutout innings of work while fanning six Knights.

Tampa scored one in the second and fourth innings before opening up its offense for three runs in the fifth and nine in the eighth off three Lynn pitchers.
