Savannah, Ga.- Lynn University's fourth-ranked men's tennis team fell to No. 2 Armstrong, 6-3, on Friday afternoon. The Fighting Knights are 11-2 overall while the Pirates advance to 7-3 on the season. Lynn's Tomas Porkop defeated No. 9 Pedro Scocuglia in singles action while teaming with Alessio Iannozzi to score the Blue & White's only point in doubles competition.
Luca Cerin and Scocuglia defeated Lynn's Pavel Mojha and Roman Turtygin at the No. 3 spot for a 1-0 Armstrong lead. Porkop and Iannozzi then beat Ignacio Hernandez and Damian Okrutny, 8-5, to even the score 1-all. AASU's Jaan Kononov and Pablo Gov gave the Pirates a 2-1 lead when they defeated Lynn's top duo of Daniel Riggs and Paolo Volpicelli, 8-6.
No. 36 Mojha knotted the score 2-2 when he beat Okrutny, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 6 spot. No.39 Kononov beat Volpicelli, 6-1, 6-3. Porkop then beat Scocuglia, 6-0, 6-2, at the top spot in the lineup to even the score 3-3. No. 10 Gor beat Riggs in three sets while No. 20 Ignacio Hernandez beat Iannozzi at the fourth spot. Turtygin fell as Lynn's fifth man to Cerin to round out the scoring in Armstrong's favor.
