Royal Victory? Men's Tennis Downs Dukes

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Five victories in singles play catapulted Lynn University's ninth-ranked men's tennis team to a 6-3 win over NCAA Division I Duquesne on Wednesday night.  Pavel Mojha and Medhi Laalej teamed-up to knock out their opponents in both doubles and singles play.  The Fighting Knights improve to 7-1 overall.

Lynn had an uphill battle after falling behind 2-1 in doubles action.  The lone victory came at the top position with Mojha and Laalej topping Rich Robbie and Corey Robinson 8-5.

After being the last to finish in doubles, Mojha was the first to end singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Alex Aleman at No. 3 singles.  Danny Riggs then gave the Blue & White their first lead of the match at the No. 1 position and Fernando Rivas took down Robinson 7-6, 6-4 in the third spot.

Laalej locked in the victory with a 6-0, 7-4 win before Ethan Itzkovitz and Paolo Volpicelli each engaged in epic three-set matches.  Itzkovitz would fall 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 but Volpicelli came back to defeat Mehdi Mekaoui 6-4, 2-6, 10-7.

The Fighting Knights return to the courts on Thursday, March 5, at 10 a.m. when they host Lewis at the Perper Tennis Complex.  Fans can keep up with the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com and receive in-match updates by following @Lynn_Knights on Twitter and Instagram.
