Three straight goals in the fourth quarter push the No. 18 Fighting Knights past the No. 20 Panthers 14-12

Melbourne, Florida – After a slow start to the game the Fighting Knights would use three straight goals late in the fourth quarter to top No. 20 Florida Tech 14-12. The Fighting Knights move to second in the conference with the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • On an assist from Isabella Clark, Kristyn Johnson would score the first goal for the Fighting Knights in the first 30 seconds of the contest.
  • Florida Tech would respond by scoring three straight goals while holding Lynn scoreless the rest of the quarter.
  • In the second quarter, the Fighting Knights were able to find a rhythm offensively. Johnson would score the three goals to lead the way for Lynn in the second quarter.
  • Sydney Hill and Clark would dish out four assists in the second quarter to help stem the tide. Hill would find the back of the net for the final goal of the quarter with Lynn trailing 8-6 at halftime.
  • Florida Tech would continue their hot start offensively scoring five goals in the second quarter, led by Kayla Minton.
  • Lynn would flip the script coming out of the locker room. Lauren Dickson rifled a shot into the net for the first goal of the third quarter, giving the Fighting Knights momentum.
  • The Fighting Knights would go on to outscore the Panthers 4-2 in the quarter, led by Dickson with two goals, assisted by Hill.
  • The Panthers would break the tie early in the fourth quarter with a free position goal by Carly Niro.
  • Bayley Tracey would respond with a goal of her own, assisted by Clark to tie the game 11-11.
  • The Panthers would only score one goal the remainder of the game, with Lynn holding them scoreless over the final 10 minutes.
  • With three straight goals Hill, Mallory Jarka, and Carly Mcneil pushed Lynn over the top against the Panthers 14-12.
  • Ciara Moorman would record 10 saves in 22 shots against for the Fighting Knights.
  • Lynn would finish the game with more clears than the Panthers 16-10, which proved to provide an advantage.
  • Johnson would lead the way offensively with four goals, followed by Hill who contribute three goals and five assists.
  • Dickson and Mcneil provided a spark offensively with two goals each.
  • Kaia Goodiel and Jarka would dominate defensively with three turnovers each caused for the game to lead Lynn, followed by Moorman and Erin Reilly with two each.

The Fighting Knights will look to keep the momentum going when they travel to Palm Beach Atlantic for their second meeting of the season on Wednesday, Apr. 20 for a 7 p.m.
