Boca Raton, FL — Lynn University's men and women's cross country team finished with strong performances last season and are looking to implement the same formula to the 2022–23 season.

Men
Luke Sweatman broke two school records last year with substantial personal records (PR's). Sweatman posted collegiate bests in his personal development as a runner and competing with olympians at the UNF meet. Sweatman finished at the top and was accompanied by teammate Josh Skielnik. Skielnik, a Florida native, is a four-year veteran at Lynn and enters his fifth year with the team as graduate student. Skielnik has improved his running technique each season and has qualified for the SSC Cross Country Championships every year.

"Collectively, the runners have been working diligently in the off season and at practice —I'm impressed with their work ethic," said Assistant Coach Marissa Bartello.

Women
Blair Vignes and Brooke Mullins played to each other's strengths as runners last season, establishing a solid rapport and setting high expectations for Lynn's coaching staff:

"Blair was a key component and strong runner last season, we're expecting big things from her this season," said Coach Bartello.

"Mullins is coming off an injury this past summer and put in the work to recover adequately," Coach Bartello adds. Bartello expects Vignes and Mullins to grow as runners and set the tone for the team throughout the year.

Outlook

Junior Cadet was recently hired as the new head coach for men and women's cross country and track team. Cadet joins Lynn from Coastal Carolina University where he was the assistant track and field coach.

"The team is eager to have Junior Cadet join our program as we work to establish team chemistry and solidify a supportive family atmosphere," said Bartello.

"With so many new additions to the team, I have noticed the team's energy elevate in practice and meets," said Coach Bartello. "The returners are excited to pick up where they left off last season and the newcomers are restless to compete and learn."

Up next
The men and women's cross country teams will compete in the FAU invitational Friday, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. taking place at South County Regional Park.
