BOCA RATON, Fla. – Three runners finished inside the top-10 and the Lynn University men's cross country team captured the program's first-ever meet victory by taking home the FAU Invitational trophy, Friday evening.
Lynn defeated two NCAA Division I schools and two Sunshine State Conference foes en route to the title. The win is the first for the five-year old program that started prior to the 2018 season. The Fighting Knights finished with 51 points, six ahead of runner-up FIU with 57 points.
Lynn's top seven runners all finished inside the top 14 of the 64-competitor field.
Sophomore
Luke Sweatman led the way for Lynn for the second-consecutive meet as he took fifth in 24:10.9. Graduate student
John Ross Donnes was the second Fighting Knight to cross the finish line as he took ninth in 24:25.5, while freshman
Zach Mickler was 10
th at 24:33.1.
Sophomore
Collin Clark and freshman
Robert Davidson finished 13
th and 14
th respectively for the Fighting Knights, finishing with times of 24:39.8 and 24:40.1. Graduate
Josh Skielnik captured 18
th place with a time of 24:44.0.
The next four finishers for the Fighting Knights finished in a row from 20
th to 23
rd place with just under nine seconds between them. Freshman
Trevor Cross led the foursome with a 25:05.5, freshman
Jack Bolan posted a 25:07.1, freshman
Renzo Almeida finished with a 25:09.8, while sophomore
Philip Henderson had a 25:13.9.

David Cueje Luque and freshman
Thomas Ashley rounded out the Lynn runners that finished inside the top-30. Cueje was 25
th at 25:18.7 and Ashley was 27
th at 25:27.1.
The Fighting Knights return to action on Friday, Oct. 14 at the Univ. of South Florida at 5:00 pm.
