INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2023 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship field has been announced and fourth-ranked Lynn University has been selected to the field for the second-straight season. The Fighting Knights earned the fourth seed and will travel to host Barry University and take on fifth seed West Alabama.
Lynn carries an 18-5 overall record into the NCAA Tournament, while West Alabama is ranked sixth in the nation and is 19-5 overall. The Fighting Knights defeated the Lions at Perper Tennis Complex in late March, 4-2.
Eight teams from the south region earned a spot in this year's NCAA Tournament and No. 1 ranked Barry earned the right to host a four-team sectional. The south regional tournament will span two days, May 1-2 and the first round will commence on Monday. Lynn will face West Alabama on Monday, May 1 at 1:00 pm. The other opening round matchup features host Barry and eighth seed Benedict.
The NCAA Women's Tennis Championships will be May 11-16, 2023 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
This year's berth in the NCAA Tournament marks the 25th selection for the Fighting Knights. Lynn has qualified for the NCAAs every season since becoming a DII member excluding the COVID-19 stricken 2020 and 2021 seasons.
