RICHMOND, VA. – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced its NCAA Division II award winners and All-Americans for the 2024-25 season.
Following her two NCAA National Titles victories at the Division II National Championships,
Luna Mertins was crowned the CSCAA Swimmer of the Year for the first time in Lynn University history.
The awards were determined by a nationwide vote of CSCAA-member Division II head swimming coaches and head diving coaches. All-Americans are selected based on their finish at the NCAA Championships. Only student-athletes who computed in their championship finals are eligible for All-American Honors. NCAA relays & individuals must score in the top-8 to earn first-team honors, while those who finish ninth through sixteenth earn second-team honors.
Mertins was spectacular during the NCAA National Championship meet, winning titles in the 100 Free and 100 Fly while finishing runner-up in the 100 Back and third in the 50 Free. At the meet, Mertins set the NCAA record in the 100-Freestyle with a time of 48.07 as well as the 100-Butterfly at 51.78. She also set the Sunshine State Conference record in the 100-Backstroke (52.37) and the 50-Freestyle (22.31).
Mertins was also a contributor to all of Lynn's relay teams at the Championships, placing second in the 200 Freestyle relay and third in both the 200 Medley relay and the 400 Freestyle relay. The 200 Free team of
Laura Dekoninck,
Malaika Schneider, Alexa Lundell and Mertins also set the SSC record at 1:30.59.
Mertins has collected four total National Championships in her tenure at Lynn, picking up wins in the 100 Free and the 100 Fly (2022 and 2025) as well as contributing to the 200 Medley Relay victory in 2024.
Lynn Women's Swimming had a total of eight NCAA All-Americans –

Ally Webster.
Lynn Men's Swimming had seven All-American honorees –

Vitaly Kostin,
Paul Melcer and
Max Tsyfarov.
