BOCA RATON, Fla. – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has released its Scholar All-America honors for the spring 2025 semester, recognizing both team and individual achievements. Lynn University's men's and women's teams earned spots on the Scholar All-America Team list, while 11 Fighting Knight student-athletes were named to the First Team for their individual academic and athletic excellence.
The Fighting Knight women posted a collective 3.87 GPA, while the men collected a 3.51 GPA, and both programs were among 763 teams honored from across Division I, II, and III, NAIA and NJCAA levels.
The CSCAA honored 62 NCAA Division II women's programs for their work in the classroom and Lynn's 3.87 GPA tied with Catawba for best in the country. On the men's side, Lynn tied for the seventh-highest GPA among the 43 DII programs recognized by the CSCAA.
Both programs garnered Scholar All-America status in both the spring 2023 and 2024 semesters with this spring's GPAs marking the highest in program history.
For teams to be recognized they must post a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the spring semester and maintain a roster of 12 or more student-athletes.
Individually, the men's team featured juniors
Maurice Grabowski,
Vitaly Kostin and
Paul Melcer- all international business management majors as well as sophomore
Ryan Zasas (Cybersecurity).
On the women's team, graduate
Luna Mertins (Clinical Counseling), senior
Laura Dekoninck (Criminal Justice), junior
Malaika Schneider (Environmental Studies), and sophomore
Lexi Lundell (Psychology) were recognized, while the freshman trio of
Ally Webster (International Business Management),
Lydia Douthit (Hospitality and Recreation Management) and
Mariele De Santis (Cybersecurity) were also named Scholar All-Americans.
To qualify as a CSCAA Scholar First Team All-American, student-athletes must have a GPA over 3.5 or higher and participate in their national championship. Second Team selections must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met a "B" time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet.
In all, the CSCAA named over 2,700 swimmers and divers across Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA levels to its Scholar All-American Teams for the 2024-25 season.
