Five Fighting Knights named All-SSC

MELBOURNE, Fla.- The Sunshine State Conference has announced the 2025 All-Conference teams and five Lynn University men's lacrosse student-athletes were among those selected as award winners.

Senior Matthew Canedo was named to the First Team as a defender while the trio of senior attacker Connor Houston, graduate midfielder Brian Hoskins and junior goalkeeper Hunter Klosterman earned Second Team honors. Sophomore Mitch Rini rounded out the bunch earning a spot on the Third Team as an attacker.

As the leader of the stout Lynn defense, Canedo leads all defenders in the SSC with 33 caused turnovers for 2.36 a game. He has been present in all 14 games this season, accounting for 39 ground balls and his first goal as a Fighting Knight back in the 11-10 win over Southern New Hampshire. He put together two standout defensive performances against both Embry-Riddle and Florida Southern, recording a career-best seven caused turnovers in each contest.

Houston leads the Fighting Knights on the offensive end, accounting for 30 points on a team-best 19 goals through 14 contests. The Texas native has also recorded 11 assists, 14 ground balls and three caused turnovers. Against both Southern New Hampshire and Rollins, Houston tallied three goals while he has tacked on a goal in 12 of 14 total contests this spring.

Hoskins has played in all 14 games in his second season with Lynn and has paced the team with 29 points. He is second on the team in assists (14) while he has accounted for 15 goals this season. A captain and proven leader, Hoskins led the team in the battle at Flagler, rallying for four goals and an assist against the Saints. He has also recorded 14 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.

Klosterman has been "lockdown" inside the cage for the Fighting Knights, getting the nod at the goalkeeper position 12 times this spring. He has accumulated over 667 minutes at the position and has recorded 149 saves (12.42 avg.) for second in the SSC. Meanwhile, he leads the SSC in saves percentage at .596 and has allowed just 101 goals this season for a league-best. The junior goalkeeper has put up seven or more saves in every game with his best performance coming against Tampa in which he saved 18 potential goals.

Rini has been a mainstay of the Lynn offense, playing in 14 games this season while tallying 17 goals. The sophomore has been responsible for 27 points including 10 assists while he has also tacked up nine ground balls and two caused turnovers. He led the Fighting Knights with four goals against Saint Leo while his offensive heroics have propelled Lynn past the likes of Embry-Riddle and Florida Southern.

No. 2-seeded Lynn is set to host the SSC Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday, Apr. 23 at 6:00 p.m. against the third-seeded Rollins with a spot in the Championship round on the line.
