Women’s lacrosse NCAA South Regional preview

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lynn women's lacrosse is heading to the NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Tournament for the second year in a row under head coach Mindy Richmond after going 14-4 this spring. The Fighting Knights earned the No. 4 seed in the South Regional tournament and will face No. 5 Flagler on Thursday, May 8 at 3:00 p.m. at Naimoli Stadium in Tampa.

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Lynn's 14 wins mark the most in program history while the team started a perfect 12-0 to start the season
- The Fighting Knights outscored opponents at a 267-169 threshold with nine of Lynn's wins being by six or more goals
- The Blue and White have been a stout defensive unit, ranking second best in goals allowed in the Sunshine State Conference at 169 for a 9.44 average
- The Lynn defense has also excelled at causing turnovers, ranking first in the SSC with 207 total caused turnovers for 11.50 a game
- The Fighting Knights also lead the league in assists per game (7.68) for 12th in the nation
- Lynn had four Fighting Knights earn All-SSC honors in 2025 including Kristyn Johnson, Rebecca Clark, Emily Solomon and Elizabeth Clagett
- Johnson has been an offensive juggernaut in 2025, leading the Fighting Knights with 71 goals for 3.94 goals per game to earn a spot on the All-SSC First Team
- She ranks 10th in the nation in goals per game and 12th overall in overall goals while her 5.22 points per game average ranks third in the SSC
- Johnson currently ranks as the Fighting Knights all-time leading scorer, amassing 247 total goals and 309 points over her four years with the Fighting Knights
- Clark earned First Team All-SSC honors after doing a little bit of everything on the field in 2025, ranking first in the SSC in caused turnovers (41) and caused turnovers
per game (2.28)
- She also leads the league in ground balls (65) and ground balls per game (3.61)
- Offensively, Clark pieced up 50 goals in 2025 while recording 34 assists for fourth in the SSC
- Solomon garnered First Team All-SSC honors after serving as a cornerstone of the Blue and White defense with 28 caused turnovers, 42 ground balls and 58 draw controls
- Clagett was named Second Team All-SSC, serving as the ideal midfielder putting up 38 goals and 17 assists for 55 points on the offensive end
- She also racked up 30 ground balls, 18 caused turnovers and 53 draw controls to assist the defensive effort
- Freshman goalie Ava Ceglia made her mark on the 2025 season, ranking second in the conference in saves percentage (.457) and third in saves per game (6.83)
- She finished the 2025 regular season with 123 total saves for third in the league while she clocked in 929:28 minutes in the net.
- The trio of attackers: Hannah Exley (29 goals), Angelia Huggins (27 goals) and Olivia Fox (15 goals) made an impact down the stretch, accounting for 71 combined goals for the Blue and White
 
FLAGLER STATS:
- The Saints went 13-5 overall and 6-0 in Gulf South Conference play, defeating No. 22 Lander in the conference championship to punch their ticket to regionals
- Flagler has won the last three GSC tournament championships since 2023
- Flagler prides itself on taking care of the ball, ranking first in the nation in clearing percentage (.929) and second in turnovers per game (12.06)
- The Saints led the GSC in points per game (20.89) and goals per game (14.22)
- Flagler led the league in All-Conference honors with 10 selected to the All-GSC team, headlined by Sydney Onega as Attacker of the Year.
- Onega finished the season with 39 goals and 39 assists for a combined 78 points while fellow attacker Carley Tepel earned a spot on the First Team with a team-high 54 goals
- Head coach Grant Kelam has been with the program since 2022 and has taken the Saints to three-straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament
 
MATCHUP NOTES:
- The Fighting Knights and Saints faced off in Boca Raton back on Feb. 22 in Lynn's home opener
- The Blue and White emerged victorious, rallying early for a 12-8 win
- Flagler struck late for five goals in the fourth, outscoring Lynn 5-3 in the final quarter
- Lynn was led by Clagett who took over the game with four goals, one assists, one caused turnover and six draw controls
- Meanwhile, Clark tacked on three goals and paced the defense with four caused turnovers and three ground balls
- The Saints were led by Claudia Tanksley who led Flagler with four goals and an assists
- Overall, Lynn is 3-1 against Flagler in matchup history with the Saints stealing a 12-11 win in overtime back in 2023.
