Strong all-around showing pushes Lynn to fourth at Saint Leo Invitational

DADE CITY, Fla. – The Lynn men's golf team delivered a strong showing at the Saint Leo Invitational, finishing fourth in a competitive field with a three-round total of -19 (845). Senior Simon Roessler paced the Fighting Knights with a tie for fourth place at -9 (207), while Andres Asin and Matthew DePinto rounded out Lynn's top performers with top-20 finishes at -7 (T-8, 209) and -4 (T-18, 212), respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knights recorded the second-best score on Par 3's during the tournament at +6 (3.10)
- The Blue and White also tied for second in birdies sunk at 63 for the tournament
- Roessler posted rounds of 69, 66 and 72 to finish tied for 4th
- He shot a -3 (33) on the front nine of his second round, closing out the round at -6 (66) after another -3 (33) on the back nine
- His 17 birdies ranked second best among the field (just two behind tournament winner Palmquist) while he was -8 (4.33) on par 5's
- Asin finished the tournament with rounds of 69, 68 and 72 to tie for eighth
- Asin fired a -3 (33) on the back nine of round one and -3 (33) on the front nine of round two before closing out the second round at -4 (68)
- He tied for sixth on par 4's, shooting -3 for a 3.90 average while chipping in 15 birdies
- DePinto closed out the tournament with rounds of 69, 73 and 70
- He had an excellent final round, shooting -1 on the front nine while capitalizing on a birdie on hole 17 to close out the tournament with a -2 (70) third round
- Sebastiano Mascia finished tied for 42nd at +2 (74), while Cole Ropicky ended T-77 with a +9 (81) score
- Connor Owen played as an individual finishing the tournament at T-97 (+25)
 
UP NEXT:
- After a couple weeks off, the Fighting Knights will compete in the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate, hosted by Valdosta State, at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club starting on March 9
