ORLANDO, Fla. - After a breakout performance leading the eighth-ranked Lynn University women's lacrosse team to a dominant home victory, freshman Madison Smith has been named the Sunshine State Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
 
Smith delivered a standout showing in the Fighting Knights' 17-1 win over Montevallo, pacing the Blue and White with a game-high eight points behind five goals and three assists. Her offensive efficiency was on full display, scoring five times on six shots while also contributing across the field with two ground balls and a caused turnover.
 
The freshman attacker made her impact felt early and often, recording a hat trick in the opening half to help Lynn build a commanding lead before continuing to orchestrate the offense throughout the contest. Smith factored into multiple scoring runs, either finishing chances herself or setting up teammates as the Fighting Knights controlled the pace from start to finish.
 
Her performance marks another milestone in what has been an impressive season for the Lynn attack, as Smith becomes the third Fighting Knight to earn SSC Offensive Player of the Week honors this year, joining teammates Angelia Huggins and Rebecca Clark.
 
With Smith leading the charge, the Blue and White continue to establish themselves as one of the most dangerous offensive units in the conference, showcasing depth, balance and playmaking ability across the lineup.
 
Smith's recognition highlights not only her individual excellence, but also the continued growth of the Lynn women's lacrosse program as it builds momentum heading into Sunshine State Conference play hosting No. 5 Tampa on Wednesday, March 25 at 4:00 p.m.
