The Lynn University volleyball team downed the USC Aiken Pacers 3-1 to end the USC Aiken Volleyball tournament on a high note on Saturday.

In the first match of the day, the Blue & White took on the undefeated Armstrong Atlantic Pirates and went four sets but lost 3-1. Brittany Brown led Lynn with 16 kills followed by Brianna Cox with 10. On the defensive side, Nikki Haben collected 16 digs while Abbey Brokop and Michelle Jordan added eight each.

"Armstrong was a tough team that showed us some of our weaknesses," head volleyball coach Lynze Roos said. "We need to learn to work harder in transition and be more physical at the net."

For the Pirates, Brendyce Budd lit up the Knights with 25 kills on an astonishing .512 hitting percentage to move her Pirates to 6-0.

Lynn bounced right back after the loss in the second game of the day against USC Aiken. The Fighting Knights took a crucial first-set win 25-20 but then fell in the next set 25-23.

In set number three, Lynn dominated Aiken at the net by holding the Pacers to a .000 hitting percentage and adding 19 digs. The Blue & White tallied a 25-18 win in the third set and went into set four with confidence.

In the fourth and final set, the Lynn defense collected a negative hitting percentage on Aiken and romped their way to a 25-13 win.

"I was pleased to see our team rebound after the loss in the first match of the day," Roos said. "We corrected some of our issues and really came back aggressively against a quality opponent."

Brown tallied 11 kills on the match with Cox adding nine and Lizzy Raffa chipping in with seven. Overall, Aiken hit .006 with 37 attack errors. The Fighting Knights posted 82 digs with 28 from Haben and 14 from Shannon Dugan. Lynn moves to 6-3 on the season with the win.
