BOCA RATON, Fla.—Lynn University's men's basketball team out-rebounded rival Barry University by 26 and Jeremy Lampkin collected his first career double-double on the way to a 69-53 Sunshine State Conference win on Wednesday.
Lampkin totaled 15 points and 13 rebounds while Slobodan Miljanic tallied his second career double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.
After falling behind 9-2 and starting the game 1-10 from the field, Lynn (13-10, 6-5 SSC) rallied to knot the game at 17 with 10:30 left in the first half. The Fighting Knights then stretched their advantage to eight on a DeMario Fountain 3-pointer with 1:58 remaining in period one.
Half number one ended with Lynn on top 36-30. The Blue & White dominated the first-half glass by out-rebounding Barry 27-15. Lynn tallied a 35.1 shooting percentage in the first half while connecting on 7-for-18 from downtown. Fountain led the way for Lynn in the first half with 13 points.
Barry started the second half with two Evan White free throws to cutthe Lynn tilt to four with 30 seconds off the second-half clock. Lynn then rattled off an 11-0 run to go up 47-32 capped off on a Michel Vidal jumper with 12:26 remaining.
The Fighting Knights continued to press their advantage and climbed to their biggest lead of the game up 54-37 on an 18-5 run with 8:00 minutes left in regulation.
With less than a minute left in the game, Lynn totaled a 19-point advantage from a Lampkin layup to go up 67-48. Lynn out-scored Barry 33-23 in the second half en route to the 16-point win.
Lynn collected a 41.5 percent shooting clip from the field and made 9-of-29 from behind the arc. The Fighting Knights' defense allowed Barry a mere 28.3 shooting percentage and only four buckets from downtown. The Knights converted 15 second chance points to Barry's two. On the offensive glass, Lynn pulled down 19 to Barry's six.
Fountain totaled 13 points on the game with Josh Garcia chipping in with 10. Vidal tied Lampkin for the game-high in rebounds with 13.
