Baseball Drops Twinbill

Carrollton, Ga. – Lynn University's baseball team fell 14-3 and 3-1 to West Georgia on Saturday afternoon.  Paul Stortini drove in two runs for the Fighting Knights, who drop to 3-5 overall.

Despite near freezing temperatures, the afternoon started off hot for LU as the team dropped two runs in the first inning off a Stortini double.  Unfortunately for the Blue & White, things went cold from there.

West Georgia (7-2) took advantage of four Lynn errors over the course of game one to plate 14 runs from the second inning on.  Starter Jed Vandernaald lasted five innings, allowing 10 hits, five runs, three of which were earned, with four strikeouts.

Lynn was able to grab a 1-0 lead in the early-goings of game two but could not hold on as UWG added three runs in the fifth.  Joe Perrrotta also reached five innings in the start, allowing five hits with three runs, two earned, and three strikeouts.

The Fighting Knights close out its three-game series with West Georgia on Sunday, February 17, beginning at noon.  Fans can follow along with live stats at LynnFightingKnights.com.
