BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's women's tennis team, who ranks eighth nationally, was on the right side of a 5-3 victory over Sunshine State Conference opponent and No. 20 Florida Tech. With the victory Lynn improves to 12-2 and 5-1 in the SSC while Florida Tech falls to 14-6 and 2-4 in conference.
Doubles play saw the Fighting Knights take the early 2-1 lead. Lynn's top duo, who ranks third in the nation, Val Confalonieri and Ioana Ivan picked up the first victory of the match with a 8-2 win. The Panthers would briefly knot the score with a 4-8 victory at the third doubles slot over Kim Przeszlowski and Valentina Chacin before Aleks Vukadinovic and Alina Jane ended doubles action with a 8-4 win in the two spot.
The first single's point came with No. 13 Ivan winning in sets of 6-6, 6-2. No. 4 Confalonieri lost in the top singles game 1-6, 2-6 before Jane earned a 6-4, 6-1 win in the third slot. Chacin gave Florida Tech their third point of the match falling 0-6, 0-6. Vukadinovic was ahead in a tight 6-1, 5-4 game but it ended unfinished because Przeszlowski was able to secure the Knights win with a 7-6, 6-0 victory in the fourth singles spot for Lynn's fifth and final point.
