Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – An early goal, and second chance early in the match, helped Lynn University's women's soccer team keep it close but No. 14 Rollins used two second-half goals to slip past the Fighting Knights 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon. Linzi Martin notched her second goal of the season but the team dropped to 3-7-0 overall and 0-4-0 in the Sunshine State Conference.
It didn't take long for Lynn's scoreboard to go up a tick as Martin found the back of the net 1:38 into play. The Tars tripped up Kirstie Schults just outside the penalty box and Martin made them pay with a low line drive shot off the left post and past keeper Mary Spring.
Minutes later Schults flashed her wheels, burning past defender Azure Dorsey off a through ball. Unfortunately for the Blue & White, her shot ended up snugly in Spring's arms to keep the match at 1-0.
Emma Bloom knotted the game in the 33rd minute, launching a shot from the far left wing over Caitlin Shaver. Bloom added the game-winner just two minutes into the second half with a shot attempt inside the 18-yard box.
Rollins continued its pressure and added an insurance goal in the 65th when Mora Johnson chipped a shot over Shaver following a breakaway attempt.
Shaver logged eight saves in the effort as Lynn was outshot 37-7 overall. Spring tallied three stops.
The Fighting Knights are back in action on Saturday, October 13, at 7 p.m. when they host Florida Southern at 7 p.m. Fans can watch the action live at the new LynnFightingKnights.com and receive in-game updates by following @Lynn_Knights on Twitter and Instagram.
