BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University's lacrosse team rallied in the second half of its Sunshine State Conference game against the visiting Tars of Rollins on Wednesday night but came up short falling by one, 10-9, at Bobby Campbell Stadium to drop its second-straight SSC game. The Fighting Knights move to 7-5 overall and 1-2 in conference while Rollins improves to 6-7 overall and 2-2 in the league.

Austin Jerhoff matched his career-high of four goals and added an assist for a team-best five points in the loss. Taylor Ferrino made nine saves in goal and was hit with his third loss of the season in between the pipes for the Fighting Knights.

Rollins took the lead first at 11:55 on an unassisted goal by Morgan Baker and never trailed after that. A score by Nicholas Schultz made it a 2-0 Tars lead with 7:23 left in the first but Brian Kiel put Lynn on the scoreboard with a goal on Jerhoff's assist to trail 2-1 by the end of the first quarter.

Rollins scored five-straight goals in the second frame to lead by six, 7-1, with 3:13 left until halftime. Sam Turner tallied an unassisted goal to break up the Tars scoring spree at 2:04 and a minute and a half later Anthony Rainone scored making it a 7-3 game at halftime.

Rollins went ahead by five goals 53 seconds into the third period but Mark Snellman answered back two minutes later off a pass from Johnny Gavin making cutting RC's lead to 8-4. Jerhoff scored on a man-up opportunity on an assist from Rainone at 5:50 cutting the Fighting Knights deficit to three. Gavin later logged an unassisted goal with 45 seconds left in the quarter cutting Rollins' lead to 8-6.

A.J. Gogan scored his second goal of the game for the Tars two minutes into the fourth quarter extending the lead to 9-6 but Tyler Janvrin found Jerhoff to make it a two-goal game once again with 10:39 to go. An unassisted goal by Carson Buell gave Rollins a three-goal cushion at 10:16 but 23 seconds later Javrin connected with Jerhoff again at the 9:40 mark to put Lynn within two, 10-8.

Angelo Beacon-Paglia caused a turnover deep in the Rollins zone with 3:30 on the clock and made down field for a fast break where he found Jerhoff who put one past the Tars keeper bringing it to a one-goal deficit at 3:03. Lynn head coach Brian Kingsbury put Dante Egan in goal to pressure the Tars offense with an extra defender with under two minutes to go trying to force a turnover and get the ball back for the Blue & White. The Tars managed to get off two shots with the Fighting Knights net open but both went wide. Lynn was unable to recover the ball on either shot attempt, falling to Rollins for the second time in program history.

Lynn edged Rollins 35-28 in groundballs and was successful on 15-of-17 clear attempts. Rollins had 14 turnovers in the win while the Fighting Knights had just seven. Alex Petsos won the face-off battle claiming 14 of RC's 15 wins. Vincent Genovesi was just 4-for-13 at the X while Ian Magnan went 2-for-2 winning his first career face-off for the Blue & White late in the fourth quarter.

Jerhoff was the only Knight with a multi-goal game while Rainone, Gavin, Kiel, Snellman, and Turner all tallied a point for the Blue & White. Attackmen Gavin and Rainone also combined for nine groundballs while Ferrino led the team with eight. Additionally, Ferrino and Beacon-Paglia both caused a pair of turnovers each.
