HOW IT HAPPENED:
- First Quarter | The first quarter, much like the entire game, was led by post play for the Fighting Knights, as Freshman Janay Williams started the game off strong with a six point performance and the team outrebounded AUM 13-8. Seven different members of the squad managed to make baskets, but not to be lost in the success was newcomer Jaylen Snipes, who played a pivotal role with four assists and three rebounds. The quarter went back and forth, with no team to be stopped on the offensive end and both teams shooting above the 40% mark.
- Second Quarter | Transitioning from one quarter to the next, caused the Warhawks to cool off from the field, but with five made three's, AUM managed to edge the Blue and White 17-14 in the second period. Paola Vazquez was able to lead the four-scoring members of the Lynn squad, with five, making her total nine in the first half of action. Lynn trailed at the half by a score of 39-36.
- Third Quarter | After the half, the defense and offense picked up from a less than stellar second quarter. The balanced scoring returned for the Blue and White, as Shaunt'e Tucker and Nina Guillaume recorded six and five points, respectively, to put them both in double digits in the scoring column. The ladies owned the boards this quarter, outrebounding the Warhawks 15-6, with seven players cleaning up the misses, led by Williams with four. The Fighting Knights regained the lead, 57-56, outscoring their opponent 21-17 this quarter.
- Fourth Quarter | With Lynn holding the slim margin, they decided to keep the momentum on their side, with guards Snipes and Tucker taking over the duty of putting this one away. Each scored five and seven respectively. The defense held strong, not only in the quarter, but in the half, as Lynn held AUM to just 37.5% from the floor. The Warhawks hit timely three's to stay in it, but the Blue and White held there on to come out of the gym with the first victory of the season.
