HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • First Quarter
    • Offense took center stage in a high-scoring first quarter that ended with Rollins leading 28-23.  Lynn kept close for much of the time with Nelson-James figuring prominently into the Fighting Knights attack.  The senior forward scored 10 of her 14 points in the quarter, including the final bucket which gave her 1,001 career points.
  • Second Quarter
    • After the offensive explosion of the opening quarter, defense set up in quarter number two.  Lynn, though, found itself trailing by double-digits three minutes into play until Nina Guillaume scored on a putback with 6:56 remaining.  Tifani Kerrison brought Lynn to within eight, 40-32 on a running jumper in the paint, only to see the Tars end the half on a 6-1 run to head into the locker room leading 46-33.
  • Third Quarter
    • The Fighting Knights opened the second half on a 15-3 run, over a five minute span, to grab their first lead of the day, 50-49, behind six points from Zachara Bailey and four by Kerrison.  The two squads battled for the lead six times over the next three minutes until Kerrison connected on a free-throw and then snuck in a layup with 15 ticks on the clock to put the Blue & White ahead 57-55 heading into the final quarter.
  • Fourth Quarter
    • Rollins kicked off the final stanza with a 7-0 run to regain the lead, 62-57.  A trey by Baker cut Lynn's deficit only to have Brittany Betts knock down a three of her own.  Nelson-James' last basket of the night, a jumper in the paint, brought Lynn to 65-63, the closest the squad would get to the Tars.

STATS FROM THE GAME:

  • Baker led all scorers with 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.
  • Nelson-James was nearly perfect from the field, shooting 5-of-6 overall and 4-of-4 from the line.
  • Kerrison and Bria Huffmann matched each other with 13 points.
  • Four Tars scored in double-figures.
  • Shaunt'e Tucker logged a game-high four steals.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Nelson-James ranks 10th in program history with 1,005 career points and trails Jackie Codiga (1,086 points) for ninth place.
  • Baker finished one point shy of her season-high.
