BOCA RATON, Fla. – The sixth-ranked Lynn University men's tennis team swept the singles action on Thursday night and opened up the new season with an 8-1 victory over St. Thomas University in front of the home crowd.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knights garnered a 2-1 lead following doubles competition.
- The senior duo of Daniel Riggs and Pavel Mojha powered through to an 8-3 victory at the top doubles flight, while youngsters Jose Porfirio Ordonez and Danyang Xu teamed up for the first time in their careers for a win at No. 2 doubles.
- The Bobcats notched their only tally of the night with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
- Riggs, Mojha and Mehdi Laalej sealed Lynn's victory in the opening singles matches with dominant straight-set victories.
- The 4-6 singles flights were reduced to eight-game pro sets, with the Blue & White taking all three.
- Ethan Itzkovitz cruised to an 8-1 triumph in the No. 4 slot, Porfirio Ordonez picked up his second win of the day at No. 5 and Paulo Santos Costa closed out the evening's festivities for his first collegiate victory.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Fighting Knights have never lost to the Bobcats in program history.
- Lynn has faced St. Thomas in each of its last five season openers.
