HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Jaret Vermillion received the start for the Fighting Knights, but the rain came just eight pitches into the ballgame.
- After nearly three hours of rain and field maintenance, Jonathan Eisdorfer toed the rubber for the home nine.
- Eisdorfer inherited a situation that saw runners at second and third with nobody out, but back-to-back infield popups and an alert defensive play from catcher Jonathon Corbitt halted the SNHU threat.
- After John Borup started the home first with a single up the middle, team home run leader John Silviano hit a moonshot to right and put the Blue and White up 2-0.
- In the second, Tyler Curtis slammed Lynn's second two-run dinger in as many innings to give the home team a 4-0 advantage.
- The Fighting Knights struck again in the fifth, scoring four runs on three base hits, highlighted by Frank Grandinette's third longball of the season.
- The Penmen got on the board in the sixth after taking advantage of a defensive mishap.
- SNHU got its final two runs of the game in the seventh when leftfielder Sean Webster cranked a two-run bomb.
- The Fighting Knights added two more in the bottom half before the game was called due to lack of sunlight.
QUOTABLE
- "The arms they threw at us today were impressive and had really good stuff, and our guys really had to battle. Eisdorfer came in and did a great job in the first to get some momentum for us. We try to focus on playing our game and improving every time we take the field. Obviously, when you're playing a quality opponent, it's easier to stay focused. Things will become more normal now that we are through this stretch of games. We will catch our breath a little bit and then keep working to get better." – Lynn head coach Rudy Garbalosa
