BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's sixth-ranked men's tennis squad opened up its Sunshine State Conference schedule on its home courts Saturday morning, defeating Florida Southern College, 8-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn pulled out an 8-6 victory in the No. 2 doubles match to gather all three of the doubles points.
- The senior duo of Daniel Riggs and Pavel Mojha got things started with an 8-1 win at the top flight, followed by Danyang Xu and Jose Porfirio Ordonez taking the No. 3 matchup, 8-4.
- Mehdi Laalej and Ethan Itzkovitz closed out the Lynn doubles sweep at the second flight.
- The Fighting Knights quickly secured the match with wins at No. 2 & 3 singles, eventually taking five out of the six total singles matchups in straight sets.
- Laalej dropped Laurent Mailloux (6-2, 6-1) at No. 3 to give Lynn a 4-0 edge and Mojha grabbed his team's fifth point with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph over Jose de Sario at the No. 2 slot.
- Riggs kept the ball rolling at the top spot, defeating Fabian Lundberg, 6-3, 6-2.
- After a 6-1 win at No. 4 singles, Itzkovitz closed out Miguel Alvarez-Hevia in the second, 7-5.
- Porfirio downed Oscar Soderlund by identical 6-3 tallies in the No. 6 matchup.
- Florida Southern garnered its only point on the day at No. 5 singles, winning 6-0, 6-4.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Lynn has won each of its last seven conference openers.
- The Fighting Knights snapped FSC's four-match winning streak.
