HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter

  • For the second consecutive game, the Lynn offense came out guns blazing, this time putting away four goals in just over three minutes of action.
  • Lynn won the first four faceoffs of the night, leading to four shots that all found the back of the net.
  • Peter Masters opened up the scoring with an unassisted shot from the left wing and Anthony Rainone followed it up from inside the circle off a pass from Mikey Urso.
  • Austin Jerhoff got involved shortly after with an unassisted goal before Johnny Gavin found Rainone for his second tally of the game.
  • Dominican grabbed its first goal at the 9:19 mark as both sides battled to a stalemate for the remainder of the opening period.

Second Quarter

  • Stephen Polsinelli took his first opportunity of the second quarter, beating his man up top and ripping a goal into the upper corner. Gavin utilized a solo effort shortly after to put Lynn up 6-1.
  • Working around the back of the net, Urso found Masters cutting from the left wing for an easy look inside.
  • The Chargers put away their second of the night with 6:17 left in the half, but the Blue & White responded on the resulting faceoff. Greg Onofri picked the draw clean, dished it outside to Jerhoff who then found Rainone wide open in front of the pipes.

Third Quarter

  • The Fighting Knights went on a 4-0 run in the third quarter to all but seal the victory.
  • Ryan Madigan and Jacob Van Leenen got things going in the second half with unassisted goals.
  • Madigan then struck again, working on the right side with Tyler Janvrin until a shooting lane opened up.
  • Lynn notched the first man-up goal of the game in the final minute as Gavin made a defender bite on a fake shot before burying it past the keeper out in front.

Fourth Quarter

  • Jerhoff and Urso connected to grant Lynn a 10-goal advantage.
  • After back-to-back Dominican scores, Conrad Rhein led a counter attack through the neutral zone in a man-down situation, ultimately netting his first career goal.
  • The Fighting Knights defense killed off an Urso holding penalty before the redshirt-freshman stepped back on to the field and put away his second of the game.
  • With 21 seconds left, Janvrin beat this man with speed and recorded his first goal of the year.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • Rainone led the Fighting Knights in scoring for the second consecutive game, putting all five of his shot on frame to record a hat trick.
  • Urso finished with five points on two goals and three assists, while Jerhoff matched with three helpers.
