HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A back-and-forth battle at No. 3 doubles that ultimately went to the Lions gave Saint Leo the doubles sweep and immediately put the Fighting Knights in a deep hole.
- Mehdi Laalej and Jose Porfirio Ordonez put up a good fight at No. 3, but came up short, 6-8.
- Alberto Barroso-Campos and Alex Theiler, the top-ranked doubles team nation, won the No. 1 match 8-3 while Saint Leo received an 8-0 win at No. 2 from its 20th-ranked duo.
- The Fighting Knights needed five-of-six singles matches to make the comeback, but the magic wasn't there today.
- Straight-set victories and the first and fourth flights was enough to secure the crown for Saint Leo and halt the match.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Saint Leo claims its first-ever SSC Championship in men's tennis.
- Lynn has been the runner-up at the SSC Tournament five years straight, but won the title the year before in 2011.
