BOCA RATON, Fla. – The kid from Pompano Beach did it again. Following a huge Daniel Cooper offensive rebound, sophomore point guard Brandon Bornelus knocked down the game-winning 3-pointer with ice in his veins as time expired Wednesday night to give the 15^th-ranked Lynn University men's basketball team a thrilling 65-63 nonconference victory over Caldwell University.

STATS OF THE GAME:

• Bornelus reached double figures at the buzzer, finishing with 10 points after spending a lot of the night in foul trouble.
• Darius Moore led the Fighting Knights in scoring with 15 points off the bench, but struggled from long range for the second consecutive game (2-of-8).
• Jamal Palmer dropped in 14 points behind a 6-of-8 effort at the free-throw line. He played a team-high 34 minutes, leading the squad in assists (3) and steals (3).
• Rasheed Worrell went 4-for-4 at the charity stripe while logging six points, three boards and a game-high two blocks.
• Cooper and Moore co-led Lynn on the glass with four rebounds each.
• Caldwell's Ned Ogoemesim shot 8-of-12 from the field, finishing with a game-high 20 points.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

• Last season in an overtime 92-90 win at Florida Southern, Bornelus – as a freshman -- hit a three with 47 seconds left in OT to bring the score to 89-90 before hitting the game-winning triple with 10 seconds on the clock.
• The Fighting Knights are 9-0 to start the year for the first time since the 1998-99 season.
• The last time Lynn won nine or more consecutive games at any point in a season was during the 2004-05 campaign (12-game streak).
• Lynn is currently ranked No. 15 nationally on the D2SIDA National Media Poll. Lynn is receiving votes on the National Association of Basketball Coaches Poll.
• This was the second-ever meeting between these two teams. Lynn also defeated Caldwell back in 2000.
• Caldwell has had a tough South Florida trip, falling to Lynn, Nova Southeastern and Palm Beach Atlantic all in the past four days.
• The Fighting Knights' 65 points and 36.8 field-goal percentage tonight are their second lowest in a game this season.
