Fighting Knights lose nail-biter to No. 10 Gannon

Lakeland, Florida – The Fighting Knights battled the No. 10 team in the country, playing well in this nail-biter until the end, but it was the Golden Knights who pulled away in the fourth quarter for the victory.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • In the first quarter, both teams came out ready to compete. Uloma Enyogasi led the way for the Fighting Knights in the first 10 minutes with six points.
  • Behind her were Dani Lozzi and Loie Webb with four points each. Rachel Romich added two points and three assists, as the first quarter ended 18-18.
  • The second quarter's competitiveness was the same as the first, and the half ultimately ended 33-32 in favor of Gannon.
  • Enyogasi put up another four points in the quarter, as did Kennedi Philson and Trinity Edwards
  • The Fighting Knights kept battling in the third quarter adding another 15 points to their total. They went into the final quarter trailing 51-49.
  • Kelsi Fizer added five points in the third, while Lozzi added a layup on a fast break, as well as two assists, to bring her to three assists for the game. Enyogasi recorded a three-pointer in the third quarter, the team's only points beyond the arc on the day.
  • The fourth quarter continued in the same back and forth fashion.
  • Enyogasi added another four points. Her layup with 29 seconds left would bring the Fighting Knights within one point. The Fighting Knights resorted to fouling after that, and Gannon was able to knock down their free throws and seal the game.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Enyogasi finished the afternoon with 17 points, eight rebounds, two steals and a block.
  • Lozzi put up eight points while adding 10 boards, two blocks and two steals.
  • Fizer and Philson each put up nine points, while adding steals of their own.
  • No. 10 Gannon now moves to 3-0.
