St. Augustine, Florida – The Lynn Fighting Knights traveled to Slammer and Squire Golf Course in St. Augustine to participate in the Jay Jenison Cup for their first tournament of the season. As a team, they recorded a score of 852 (-12), which landed them a sixth-place finish.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first tournament of the year was an incredibly competitive one. Seven of the 15 teams competing shot under par, while six of the teams, including Lynn, went 12-under or better. Barry ultimately won the tournament, and numerous tournament records fell over the course of the two days.
- The Fighting Knights were led by Mariano Ayora Gomez, who finished the tournament tied for fifth with a score of 209 (-7). His second-round 67 was the best round of the tournament for any Fighting Knight. He also recorded an eagle during the event.
- Alejandro Madariaga was the second-best Fighting Knight of the event, and he finished tied for ninth overall. He was the second-best overall player on Par 4 holes, shooting a solid -7 over three rounds.
- Eloy Vigil was the third-best scorer for the Fighting Knights, finishing the tournament in 16th place. He shot a very consistent 70, 71, 72 over the three rounds. He was tied for the second-most pars in the tournament with 40.
- Jose Ramirez (+3) and Guillermo Casares (+8) finished tied for 38th and tied for 59th, respectively, as they rounded out the scoring for the Fighting Knights. Ramirez shot a 71 (-1) in round 2, and he was the best Lynn scorer on Par 3 holes, shooting even par.
NEXT COURSE:
The Fighting Knights are off until Oct. 4 when they will compete in the Shark Invite at the Grande Oaks Golf Club in Davie, Florida.
