TAMPA, FLA. – The Lynn University men's cross-country team earned sixth place at the South Florida Invitational in Tampa, Fla., Friday night.
The Lynn men finished sixth with a score of 141, with Florida Gulf Coast securing first with a score of 54. Stetson (67) finished in second place, while Florida Southern came in third (97). Daytona State (103) and South Florida (118), rounded out of the top five. The Fighting Knights' sixth-place finish put them ahead of 11 other schools in the team standings.
The field consisted of 145 runners, with six Fighting Knights securing top 50 spots. Freshman
Zach Mickler was Lynn's highest finisher on the men's side, placing 16th with a time of 27:18.3, while fellow freshman
Robert Davidson finished four spots behind Mickler, timing 27:26.5, good for 20th. Lynn had four other men finish in the top 50.
David Cueje Luque, another Fighting Knight freshman (27:46.5) placed 28th, while sophomore
Luke Sweatman (27:51.1) came in 32nd. Senior
Josh Skielnik (28:19.1) was 47th, while graduate student
John Ross Donnes (28:20.1) just snuck in the top 50, securing 49th.
