Fighting Knights fall to Wolves

Boca Raton, Florida – The Fighting Knights and the Wolves scored in bunches on Saturday, but it was West Georgia who came away with the 14-10 win to hand Lynn their first loss of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Lynn allowed the first two batters of the game to reach base. The third hit a home run to give West Georgia an early 3-0 lead.
  • The Fighting Knights used the bottom of the first to climb back into the game. Ryan Ford hit a two-run homer, driving in Matt Archer to cut the deficit to one.
  • West Georgia kept their hot start going with six runs in the second inning to amass a 9-2 lead.
  • Marvin Guzman got his second start of the season, after an impressive debut last weekend. However, he pitched just 1.1 innings today, allowing six hits and throwing one strikeout.
  • Anthony Sanabria started the bottom of the second with a double to right field. The hit was followed by a Joseph Rosselli single which brought Sanabria home. It was the only run of the inning, but it cut the deficit to 9-3.
  • West Georgia used two big hits in the fourth inning, to drive home two runs, extending their lead to 11-3.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, the Fighting Knights scored five runs to cut the lead to 11-8. It all got started when Sanabria hit a single to left.
  • Yuzuki Okamura hit a double down the left line, putting Sanabria in scoring position. Brandon Kruzinski would drive in Sanabria with a single. Archer followed it up with a sacrifice fly.
  • A double by Ford drove in two runs, while also putting Murray in scoring position at third.
  • A wild pitch on the very next at bat drove in the fifth run of the inning. 
  • Sanabria got things started once again in the bottom of the fifth. Rosselli followed it up with a single of his own placing Sanabria in scoring position at second. 
  • Both Sanabria and Rosselli would score in the inning to cut the deficit to just one at 11-10. However, the Fighting Knights wouldn't score again.
  • Two solo home runs from West Georgia in the sixth inning made it a 13-10 advantage. They followed it up with a solo shot in the top of the eighth to push their lead to 14-10.
  • The game would be called after the eighth inning due to darkness.
  • The Fighting Knights had seven players record a hit in today's game. Four players had two or more hits. Sanabria went 3-4 on the game.
  • Ford finished the game with four RBIs to lead the way for the Fighting Knights.

UP NEXT:

The Fighting Knights will be back in action against Delta State tomorrow, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.
