Lakeland, Florida - In their first tournament of the spring season, the Fighting Knights finished tied for 11th with Rollins College at the Matlock Collegiate Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Fighting Knights had a very solid second round, but their first and third rounds ultimately made it too difficult for them to keep pace in a loaded field.
• In the first round, the team shot a 304, led by 74s from both Alejandro Madariaga and Jose Ramirez. The score put the team tied for 11th heading into the second round.
• The second round was a much different story, as the Fighting Knights put together a score of 289 to move into 10th place. They were led once again by Madariaga and Ramirez who each shot 71 (-1) for the round. Anthony Muttillo shot a 72 (E) for the round, six strokes better than his first round.
• The third round saw the Fighting Knights shoot their worst collective round of the tournament (310). Muttillo led the way with a 75, while Madariaga shot a 77 and Ramirez shot a 78. The score would give Lynn a final three-round total of 903 (+39).
• Madariaga was the best finishing Fighting Knight, shooting 222 over the three rounds to tie for 31st. Ramirez ended tied for 35th, while Muttillo finished tied for 40th. Eloy Vigil shot a 233 to finish 63rd, while Mariano Ayora Gomez shot a 257 to finish 75th.
• Vigil shot the only eagle for the Fighting Knights in the event. 
• Madariaga finished -7 on par 5s, tying him for the third-best score on such holes.

The Fighting Knights will be back in action in two weeks when they play the Saint Leo Invitational on Monday, Feb. 21 and Tuesday, Feb. 22.
