MIAMI, Fla. – The Lynn University women's swimming team finished in sixth place and posted 11 top-five finishes at the season-opening FIU Fall Classic, Saturday. The Blue and White also finished with three individual runner-up efforts.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshman
Luz Tapia posted runner-up showings in both the 200 (1:53.15) and 500-yard freestyle (5:08.02)
- She also added fourth in the 100 freestyle (53.35)
- Freshman
Mariele De Santis posted second place in the 400 IM (4:30.83) and third in both the 200 butterfly (2:08.37) and 200 backstroke (2:06.41)
- Freshman
Ally Webster took home third in the 200 IM (2:09.28) and seventh in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.26)
- Webster also added 10th place in the 400-yard IM at 4:34.57
- Senior
Laura Dekoninck placed fourth in the 50-yard free (24.40), while graduate
Luna Mertins added fourth in the 100 backstroke (58.58)
- Freshman
Lydia Douthit finished in sixth place in the 100-yard butterfly (59.14), while sophomore
Lexi Lundell was seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.79)
- The 200-yard free relay team of Tapia, Lundell, Dekoninck and junior
Malaika Schneider captured fifth place in 1:37.32
- Dekoninck, Schneider, Mertins and Lundell led the 200 medley relay to fifth at 1:47.36
- The 400 free relay squad of Tapia, Schneider, Dekoninck and freshman
Lily Drons were sixth in 3:36.98
- The 400 medley relay team of Mertins, Lundell, Douthit and Dekoninck were sixth at 3:58.01
