Miami Shores, Fla. – The Lynn University baseball team's woes at Barry continued with an 11-2 loss in the Sunshine State Conference series opener Friday night. Sal Giardina and Paul Stortini drove in runs for the Fighting Knights with RBI doubles in the ninth. The Fighting Knights drop to 25-14 overall and 8-5 in the SSC and have now lost seven consecutive at the Buccaneers dating back to 2007.
Barry (25-15, 10-9 SSC) connected on four hits in the opening frame, scoring three times, and never looked back. The Blue & White's defensive troubles contributed as they racked up five errors
The Bucs scored once in the third but loaded up five runs in the fifth to push the game out of reach. One of the few highlights for Lynn was reliever Kevin Lee. Lee tossed two shutout innings while striking out one.
Lynn concludes its series at Barry with a noon doubleheader on Saturday, April 13. Fans can watch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com and receive in-game updates by following @LUKnights on Twitter and Instagram.
