GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Lynn University baseball team was recognized for its success in the classroom on Tuesday, earning the 2025-26 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack.
Head coach
Rudy Garbalosa's program was one of nearly 500 collegiate teams nationwide to receive the distinction after posting a cumulative team grade point average of at least 3.0 during the 2025-26 academic year. The award recognizes ABCA member programs that demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence while competing at a high level on the field.
Lynn was one of 41 NCAA Division II baseball programs honored and one of just four Sunshine State Conference institutions to earn the award, joining Barry, Florida Southern and Rollins. The Fighting Knights were also one of only two South Region programs recognized alongside Florida Southern.
The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award has been presented annually since 2016 and is awarded to high school and collegiate baseball programs that maintain a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale while their head coach remains an active ABCA member.
The academic honor adds to another successful year for the Fighting Knights under Garbalosa, who guided Lynn through the 2026 season while continuing the program's tradition of excellence both on the diamond and in the classroom.
