Lashley, Tapia-Melo, Tyer collect SSC baseball honors

ORLANDO, Fla. - Three members of the Lynn University baseball team earned Sunshine State Conference postseason honors, highlighted by junior third baseman Jason Lashley collecting First Team All-SSC recognition, the league office announced Thursday.

Joining Lashley on the postseason teams was junior utility player Joel Tapia-Melo, who earned Second Team All-SSC honors, while graduate outfielder Jackson Tyer represented the Fighting Knights on the SSC All-Defensive Team.

Lashley turned in one of the top offensive seasons in the Sunshine State Conference, batting .349 with a .934 OPS across 49 starts. The junior finished top-10 in the SSC in runs scored (49) and walks (36), while totaling 65 hits, 33 RBI, seven doubles, two triples, and four home runs.

The Lake Worth native delivered 19 multi-hit games during the season, highlighted by a six-hit, five-RBI cycle performance against Georgian Court on Feb. 22. Lashley also added seven stolen bases while striking out just 15 times in 186 at-bats, showcasing his consistency and plate discipline throughout the year.

Tapia-Melo emerged as one of the league's toughest outs during the 2026 campaign, ranking fourth in the SSC in batting average (.384) and third in on-base percentage (.506), while posting a 1.026 OPS that ranked seventh in the conference.

The junior led the Fighting Knights in batting average, slugging percentage (.520), doubles (11), and walks (32), totaling 48 hits and 34 RBI in just 125 at-bats. Tapia-Melo also produced a team-best 37-game reached base streak and recorded 13 multi-hit performances during the season.

Tyer earned All-Defensive Team honors after anchoring Lynn in the outfield throughout the season. The graduate student committed just one error all year while consistently delivering strong defensive play in center field. Offensively, Tyer started all 49 games and finished with seven home runs, 31 RBI, and 34 runs scored while adding 22 extra-base hits during the 2026 campaign
