Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's volleyball team gave No. 25 Palm Beach Atlantic one of its toughest matches of the season but eventually fell 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-16, 25-23) to the Sailfish. Marissa Tandron logged her first double-double of the season with a team-high 38 assists and 15 digs while Elyse Fleck hit .315 in recording a team-best 16 kills. The Fighting Knights drop to 4-3 overall.
Fleck did everything she could to assist the Blue & White in the opening set, logging six kills on 11 attempts, without an attack error, for a .545 clip. The two teams tied scores eight times but six attack and four service errors allowed PBA (10-0) to claim the set 25-19.
Lynn and Palm Beach Atlantic reversed scores in the second stanza. Lydia West exercised her dominance with four kills in four attacks while also notching three block assists. The Blue & White raced out to a 12-5 advantage to force a Sailfish timeout, but a 7-4 run by PBA backed Lynn into its own TO. A pair of kills by Katie Knight increased Lynn's lead to five and Fleck evened the match by converting on her final three kills.
PBA did not bend and grabbed a 2-1 advantage with a 25-16 set, holding Lynn to a 0.28 hitting percentage.
The final set of the evening proved the most exciting with seven tie scores and four lead changes. Neither team was able to go ahead by more than two points until PBA went ahead 15-12. Three Sailfish errors and a Kill by Morgan Dulaney knotted the set at 18-18 and Knight followed with two huge kills to take a 20-18 lead. Palm Beach Atlantic called a time out to halt Lynn's momentum but Fleck responded with a kill down the left sideline to bring her team's lead to 21-18.
Three Lynn attack errors, coupled by a Kill by Faith Rohn, evened the set at 22-22. Another back-and-forth point conversion had the packed crowd thinking extra points but Rohn and Katie Ballantyne converted on long rallying points to secure the match.
Joining Tandron in double-digit digs was Katie Knight (12) and libero Nikki Haben (10). Rachel Holehouse posted a game-high 20 digs for the Sailfish. Lynn hit .203 as a team while PBA was at a .250 clip. Palm Beach Atlantic had dropped only one set in its previous nine games heading into its meeting with Lynn.
