BOCA RATON, Fla- Lynn University's men's tennis team fell 5-2 to defending national champion Georgia Gwinnett at the Perper Tennis Complex on Tuesday. The top-ranked NAIA opponent took a 2-1 lead after doubles play and clinched the victory after winning at the No. 2, 3, and 5 singles spots. Lynn moves to 8-2 overall while the Grizzlies improve to 6-1.
Mehdi Laalej and Pavel Mojha won 8-6 at the No. 1 doubles spot over Luke Morland and Lachlan McPhee but Jordan Cox and Connor Clements defeated top-ranked Daniel Riggs and Paolo Volpicelli 8-5 and Kaevin Konfederak and Matias Hatem won 8-3 over Lynn's duo of Alessio Iannozzi and Fernando Rivas for a 2-1 GGC lead.
Riggs topped Konfederak 6-0, 6-2 in No. 1 singles to record Lynn's second point but Cox took down Mojha at the No. 2 spot after forcing a third set for a 3-2 Grizzly lead. Hatem triumphed over Rivas 6-2, 6-3 at the middle of the lineup and McPhee's 7-6, 6-3 win over Volpicelli sealed the fifth and deciding point. Lynn's Ethan Itzkovitz was trailing Stefano Licata 3-2 at the No. 6 spot when his match was halted while Laalej was in a third set against Connor Clements at the fourth spot when play stopped.
