BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Blue & White swept doubles play for a 3-0 lead. Daniel Riggs and Alessio Iannozzi defeated Patrick Hernandez and Daniel Armellino, 8-2, at the No. 2 spot. Mehdi Laalej and Pavel Mojha took down Beau Fieldsend and Mattias Hartman, 8-4, while Paulo Volpiceli and Danyang Xu had a close 9-8 victory over Aria Canadell and Ricardo Corona to complete the doubles sweep.
Volpicelli defeated Wade Ball 6-1, 6-0 to make it a 4-0 Fighting Knights lead. 11th-ranked Riggs cruised to a first set win over Fieldsend, 6-0 but was challenged in the second set eventually winning 7-6 to clinch the victory for Lynn. Iannozzi defeated Canadell at the No. 4 spot 6-4, 6-3, but Corona took down Ethan Itzkovitz at the bottom of the lineup to score FIT's only point of the match. Fernando Rivas won his match in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 6-4) over Hernandez at the No. 2 spot and Laalej won 7-5, 6-4 over Hartmann to finalize the 8-1 conference win.
Lynn will return to action on Tuesday, April 7, when the Fighting Knights will travel to Lakeland, Fla., to face the Florida Southern Mocassins. First serve is slated for 3 pm at the Warden Tennis Center.
