Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – The Lynn University baseball team earned an exciting 11-8 win over Florida Southern on Friday night to begin Sunshine State Conference action on a high note and earn its fourth consecutive win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- John Borup was hit by a pitch to start the game, and John Silviano homered two batters later to give Lynn an early 2-0 lead.
- Ryan Donovan's second-inning double highlighted a three-run frame, and the Fighting Knights went up 5-0.
- The Mocs got on the scoreboard in the fourth after a two-out error plated a run.
- Donovan started the fifth with a double and later scored on a wild pitch.
- Borup extended the lead to 7-1 with an RBI single through the right side just before the seventh inning stretch.
- Tyler Curtis and Alex Turner each left the yard in the eighth, giving Lynn an 11-1 advantage.
- Florida Southern responded with a four-run home half, taking advantage of defensive mishaps by the Fighting Knights.
- Moc left fielder Dominic Brugnoni swatted a three-run shot in the bottom of the ninth, but the comeback attempt was cut short when pinch hitter David Lugo struck out to end the game.
- Lynn starter Frank Grandinette tossed seven innings without allowing an earned run.

- After Alex Caballero struggled as the first man out of the Lynn bullpen, Mike McFerran and Payton Smith each tossed an inning to close out the night.
- Borup and Donovan each finished their night with three base hits, while Silviano, Turner, Grandinette, and Kyle Schindler went for two base knocks apiece.
- Moc starter Ben Richardson lasted just 5.1 innings before giving way to the bullpen.
- A.J. Smith struck out the first four Fighting Knights he faced before finally surrendering the last five runs.
- Walker Burgess tossed a flawless ninth for the home nine, picking up a pair of whiffs along the way.

- The Fighting Knights have now won four in a row, their longest such streak since last April.
- Friday's win marked the first team in three seasons that Lynn has won the series opener against Florida Southern.
