Box Score 2 LAKELAND, Fla. – The Lynn University baseball team claimed both games of a doubleheader against Florida Southern on Saturday with finals of 11-9 and 8-5. After an 11-8 victory on Friday night, the Fighting Knights have now won their sixth straight and stand 3-0 in Sunshine State Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1
- Lynn started the scoring in the third inning when Kyle Schindler took a 2-0 pitch over the wall in right.
- Florida Southern responded in the home half with three runs of their own, capped by a two-run shot from centerfielder Sam Machonis.
- Frank Grandinette and Eric Schindler each left the yard for the second time this season in the fourth to pull even at 3-3.
- The Mocs plated three an inning later to regain a 6-3 advantage.
- The sixth inning saw the Blue and White erupt for four runs to go back in front 7-6.
- FSC again answered, plating two in the home seventh.
- Ryan Donovan and Miguel Ceballos each came away with RBI base hits in the eighth, and when the dust settled, Lynn led 11-8.
- Moc first baseman Jason Sierra cleared the left field wall with a solo shot in the ninth, but the Fighting Knights held on for the 11-9 victory.
- Donovan Armas pitched into the sixth before turning things over to the bullpen.
- Rigo Beltran earned the win in relief, while Payton Smith tossed two frames to earn his third save.
Game 2
- Kyle Schindler singled to become the game's first base runner, and Silviano and Donovan each followed with RBI hits.
- Silviano slammed a moonshot over the right field fence in the third to take a 3-0 lead, but Florida Southern managed four in the home half.
- Lynn plated four in the fifth inning thanks largely to Donovan's two-run bomb.
- The Mocs inched closer in the bottom half when a bases-loaded fielder's choice brought in a run.
- Miguel Ceballos scored on a passed ball in the seventh to give Lynn an 8-5 lead.
- Vermillion gave the Fighting Knights five innings on the hill before Jonathon Wake and Kyle Schindler teamed up to finish out the game.
STATS FROM THE GAME:
- Silviano went 4-for-6 on the day with a home run, a pair of doubles, two RBI, and six walks.
- Four other Fighting Knights went deep to give Lynn eight home runs for the weekend.
- Donovan's four RBI on the afternoon were best on the club.
- The Blue and White drew 12 walks.
- Beltran earned his first win of the season after 1.1 innings on the mound, while Smith allowed just one hit over the final two innings of Saturday's opener.
- Vermillion allowed five runs on seven hits in the nightcap, while Wake overcame three base hits to post 3.2 scoreless frames.
- Kyle Schindler earned the save in his first outing this season.
